At just 17 years old, Blades Brown has already made history as one of golf’s most exciting young talents. Turning professional on December 17, 2024, Blades made his PGA TOUR debut at the 2025 American Express, marking the start of what promises to be a remarkable career.
Even before turning pro, Blades captured national attention when he made his PGA TOUR debut as an amateur at the 2024 ONE flight Myrtle Beach Classic, finishing T26 at only 16 years, 11 months, and 21 days old, a performance that signaled his potential among golf’s next generation.
Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Blades attended Brentwood Academy, a school known for producing elite athletes, including NFL All-Pro Jalen Ramsey. He later continued his studies online to focus fully on his golf career. Though he chose to bypass college golf, Blades went through the recruiting process, taking official visits to several top programs including Florida State, Illinois,
Stanford, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt, where he famously attended a football game the night the team upset No. 1–ranked Alabama.
A black belt in tae kwon do, Blades brings focus and discipline to every round, traits that mirror his upbringing in a family of athletes. His mother, Rhonda Blades Brown, is a trailblazer in her own right: a former WNBA player, Missouri Sports Hall of Fame inductee, and longtime Brentwood Academy girls’ basketball coach with five state titles to her name. His sister, Millie, continues that legacy as a college basketball player at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Off the course, Blades is known for his humility, sense of humor, and love for the game. A lifelong fan of Rickie Fowler, he grew up wearing Rickie’s signature bright orange gear which was a nod to the player who first sparked his dream of competing on golf’s biggest stage.
