Born and raised in Illinois, Sarah Gorden is a dynamic athlete whose impact extends far beyond the soccer field. A dual-sport standout at DePaul University (2011–2015), she excelled in both soccer and track & field, setting the foundation for a professional career defined by speed, strength, and resilience.
Sarah began her professional journey with the Chicago Red Stars of the NWSL, where she played from 2016 to 2021, sharing the field with teammate Kealia Watt. In 2022, she joined Angel City FC through a trade and has since become a cornerstone of the team’s defense. Her talent and leadership earned her two call-ups to the U.S. Women’s National Team, marking her among the elite in American soccer.
Off the field, Sarah brings the same passion to her personal pursuits. A lover of fashion, yoga, and meditation, she embodies mindfulness and balance in her daily life. Beyond that, she’s a powerful voice for social justice, using her platform to speak out against police brutality and racial inequality.
In September 2020, Sarah founded HoodSpace, a Chicago-based mental health nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls of color through wellness, mentorship, and self-expression.
